Kitchen Team Leader/Supervisor

We are on a mission to make Brissie and Hospo, a better place and our little team is growing and we are looking for a new Kitchen Team Leader/Supervisor.

After 3 years, Karly is heading off to follow her dream of becoming a firefighter and we have some big shoes to fill.

We are looking for someone to run our kitchen team in a team leader/supervisor role helping deliver our El Planta experience each night.

We are looking for someone with fast-paced kitchen experience in a team leadership role as you will be working with 3 others in the kitchen each night.

We open from 5.30pm - 9pm (ish), Tuesday to Saturday. No Sundays! We don't need you to be able to work every night, just be available in those timeframes.

The day to day job will include kitchen prep, setting up for service, executing service, packing down and ordering for the next day at the end of the night, maintaining our food cost and labour KPI's and working with the kitchen team on new menu development.

The role is available for those seeking 20-38 hours at the moment.


We have a few Role Specific Requirements

  • Must have minimum 1-2 years experience in a similar role 
  • People with less experience are welcome to apply, however, we are looking for strong kitchen leadership experience 
  • An ability to work in a fast paced environment with a high volume of food, in a calm and consistent manner 
  • A positive attitude, commitment to fostering an inclusive environment built on trust, respect, where everyone is treated fairly and has the opportunity to succeed and contribute
  • Ability to be adaptable and have a hands on approach to all jobs in the kitchen (yes this included dishes and also rotating to our tortilla section where we hand press and make all tortillas from scratch)  
  • Must have availability from Tuesday - Saturday 
  • 20-38 hours a week availability 
  • Must be fluent in conversational English
  • Be willing to work to and exceed COGS and Labour KPI's
  • Love following systems & processes
  • But more importantly, be willing to constantly work on them to make them better.


Applicants will also need to:

  • Be really fun to hang out with;
  • Not take yourself too seriously or be too precious;
  • Say what you mean, mean what you say;
  • Able to fit in well with the existing team (this is crucial!);
  • The team signs off on all new team members;
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure;
  • We get really busy and you will need to multi-task while under the pump sometimes;
  • If the word fuck offends you, we aren't for you;
  • Not have a "that's not my job" kind of attitude. That won't fly around here, we are a small, tight knit team and everything pitches in to get it done!
