Every single item on our menu is gluten free. Not most of it. Not "with modifications." All of it. We've been feeding gluten free and coeliac diners in South Brisbane for over seven years and we don't need a GF menu insert — because the whole thing already is.

Most restaurants accommodate gluten free. We're built around it.

Our tortillas are hand-pressed from masa — corn dough that's naturally, inherently gluten free. Our beer batter uses gluten free beer. Our sauces are made from scratch, which means we know exactly what's in them. Any sauces we do use like soy sauce, are always gluten free versions.

There's no guesswork, no "I'll just check with the kitchen," no crossed fingers.

That extends to our banquet too. The full El Planta banquet — the whole spread, course after course — is completely gluten free. For coeliacs who've given up on banquets entirely, this one's for you.

FAQs

Is El Planta safe for coeliacs?

Our entire menu is gluten free, and we cook everything from scratch so we know what goes into every dish. Coeliacs are very welcome — if you have specific concerns about cross-contamination, we're always happy to talk it through when you arrive or when you call ahead.

Is your whole menu gluten free, or just part of it?

The whole menu. Every dish, every time. There's no separate GF menu because there's no need for one.

Are your tortillas gluten free?

Yes — and they're made by hand from masa (corn dough), which is naturally gluten free. We press them fresh in-house, which is increasingly rare in Brisbane.

Can coeliacs do the banquet?

Absolutely. The El Planta banquet is fully gluten free from start to finish. It's one of the few banquet experiences in Brisbane where coeliac diners can eat the whole thing without a single substitution.

Do you use gluten free beer in your batter?

Yes. Our beer batter is made with gluten free beer, so even battered dishes are safe.
